are you a type A personality?

Spread the love

hello beauties! I would consider myself a true Type A personality: perfectionist, conscientious and ethical, with a strong sense of right and wrong.  We are supposed to be crusaders, advocates for change, teachers: always striving to improve, but afraid of making a mistake (this is totally me!).  At times I believe I  get in the way of my own self.  Do you know what I mean? Some Type A characteristics sound like good ones however for me, always trying to maintain high standards can result in me being hypercritical of myself, which then can lead to feelings failure and lack of confidence.  One of the first steps to improved mental well being is to recognize where you need to improve so that’s what I’m working on.

I’ve discovered that aromatherapy is an effective way to help calm my mind and helps me to focus and have improved mental clarity.  My go-to products are from Plant Therapy.  The company is family run and they pay extra close attention to oil purity.  Plant Therapy also has a kid friendly line that is safe and effective for children.  How can you resist trying A+ Attention, Better Than Kisses, Calming The Child, Ear Ease, Germ Destroyer, Get ‘Em Gone, Go Go Go, and Growing Pains :)

How to Use Essential Oils

You only need to use a few drops in your diffuser or on a tissue to enjoy the aromatic benefits.  Keep in mind if it’s strong enough to help ~  it could potentially be strong enough to harm so make sure you have done your research prior to using your oils.  Recently I learned that if you’d like to add an essential oil to your bath, you will need to add a bubble bath or “carrier” oil to help disperse your essential oil properly.

People have been using essential oils for healing, relaxation, and disinfection since ancient times.  Essentials oils are employed in many ways including cosmetic and skin care products like DIY face scrubs and masks, body treatments, and used by trained practitioners for the purpose of clinical healing and spiritual support. Plant Therapy recommends diffusing for 30 minutes and then turning off your diffuser for 60 minutes to allow your body to enjoy the benefits of aromatherapy with out over-doing it.

In the morning I like something energizing and uplifting like Peppermint or something citrusy and in the evening I have my family wind down the day with a lavender based oil.  Your house guests will also appreciate the calming effect of your aromatherapy when they wake up in the morning!

Getting back to the Type A personality, meditation would be helpful but I find it a challenge to sit still.  My favorite meditation apps are headspace and calm.  You can also find mediation music on pandora and have that on in the background with your difusser.  Best part about all of this is that everyone present benefits!
