Spring is almost here!

Coastal Blue and White Bedroom with Pom Pom at Home

The temperatures are finally going up and I’m seeing subtle signs of spring outside inspiring me to make a few changes inside our home.  Something so simple as changing up your bed linens helps to create a spring feel in your home.  This season I am welcoming spring with a coastal vibe throughout my home.  In our bedroom we added a blue and white duvet, layers, and accessories.

Here’s a look at our spring coastal blue and white bedroom update!

Soft, luxurious bedding that begs to be touched

To create a casual coastal feel in our bedroom we used the Pom Pom at Home Blake Duvet Cover .  The interwoven stripe gives a modern refresh to a traditional stripe.  In case you aren’t familiar with Pom Pom at Home, the company was founded by designer Hilde Leiaghat. She grew up in Belguim where she developed a love of antiques and vintage linens.  When I discovered Pom Pom at Home years ago I was drawn to the relaxed, lived-in elegance and timeless design of each piece.  The linens are romantic without being overly fussy and look better with each wash.  Yes, that’s right!  No need pay for expensive dry cleaning with these linens.  I use Laundress Detergent and Fabric Conditioner and wash everything on gentle/cold.  Use a low setting for drying and no ironing required.

I don’t want our a bedroom to be packed to the brim with “stuff” that isn’t necessary.  A bed, a few pieces of art, side tables, and seating is all we need.  If you are drawn to neutrals or all-white spaces, walls to ceiling, your room doesn’t need to feel cold or empty.  To create a warm, welcoming feeling, add texture and lots of layers.  These big linen accent pillows pair well with the ruffled Charlie pillow cover (also styled here) and the vintage crochet lumbar pillow.   In the spring when our weather is still chilly at night we add our Huntington coverlet in sea glass.

Baskets

A  natural fiber woven basket in the corner adds warmth and texture to a room and also is  functional.  I use my baskets for storing towels in my mud room, for throws in my bedroom, and recently I moved my fiddle leaf tree back into my great room and put it in my Savannah Fabric Basket.

Adding baskets and hand-loomed one of a kind products like this basket is a fun way to create a coastal feel in your home. See how I styled the basket here in my great room area!

Accessories and Layers

I am swooning over all of these layers!  When the weather gets warm I will switch out the heavier fabrics for lighter ones.  This over sized throw has been a cold weather favorite.  The white Helena throw has been in my basket all winter.  I’ll pull it out more as the weather gets warmer. The secret to creating a warm and welcoming space is: texture, texture, texture!

I purchased the night tables a few years ago and they are still working for this space.  The lamp is older and I will replace it soon hopefully and I’m still on the hunt for something to go over the bed.  I try to keep my night table free of too much clutter.  Reading material, glasses, a good lotion, and a small candle is enough.

  1. This is such a stunning look Leslie. I love the coastal blue quilt mixed with white. Such a relaxing retreat! I have a new white ruffled duvet to spring up the look in our bedroom. I’d planned to pair it with an off white quilt. But, now that I’ve seen your blue I would love that look for my bedroom. Spring is here outside, I need to get busy inside.
    Happy Spring Leslie..
