Do you make your Thanksgiving dinner from scratch or purchase all the fixings from your local store? If you enjoy preparing your own sides, here is an Easy Cranberry Sauce that can be stored up to 7 days before Thanksgiving.

Preparing foods from scratch is all part of the holiday season to me.  All family members take part and it’s so much fun.  To keep my stress level down (ha) I make an attempt get whatever I can get done ahead of time.  Chopping onions, carrots, celery, etc.. can all be done a day or so ahead and you can also make this Easy Cranberry Sauce.

A few items you might need:

Dutch Oven

Zester

Stirring Spoons

Airtight Jars

Food Ingredients:

2 containers of fresh cranberries

1 can of frozen apple juice concentrate

1/3 cup honey

orange zest (one orange)

6 cinnamon sticks

Process:

Rinse cranberries and place in your dutch oven.  Heat on low to medium heat until the cranberries begin to pop.  Add apple juice concentrate, honey, orange zest, cinnamon sticks, and simmer until the mixture has reached your desired consistency.  Remove from heat and spoon in to airtight jars.  You can store your Easy Cranberry Sauce up to 7 days.

Cranberries are full of antioxidants and a wonderful seasonal food to add to your menu in the Fall.  The berries will require sugar to sweeten them up a bit.  Try using maple syrup, honey, apple juice concentrate to make your Easy Cranberry Sauce and don’t forget a zest of orange or ginger for a little kick!
