Short Cut Apple Cinnamon Rolls
Whenever I have house guests I enjoy serving just a bite of something sweet in the morning. These short cut apple cinnamon rolls are perfect. When these start baking you will hear everyone getting up to see what’s cooking ;) I like that these are just a bite and not an overwhelming dose of sugar. I will serve these with scrambled eggs or turkey sausage for a hearty weekend breakfast.
Short Cut Apple Cinnamon Rolls
To make it easy on myself, I use store bought pizza dough. Make sure you defrost it the night before and allow it to sit at room temperature prior to rolling it out. Flour a surface and use your hands and rolling pin to create an 8 by 10 inch rectangle of dough.
Peel and shred your apples and melt 4 tablespoons of butter. Combine the cinnamon and sugar and then add the apple and butter. Stir and spread over the dough.
Roll the dough into and cut in to about 8 pieces. If you want to make them smaller, make sure you cut the cooking time down.
Place your cinnamon rolls, cut side up, on a baking sheet and bake at 400 degrees Fahrenheit for 15 to 25 minutes (depends on size) or until tops are golden brown.
Cream Cheese Frosting
This is optional. Add 4 ounces of soft butter, 1 cup powdered sugar, 1 teaspoon vanilla, and 4 ounces of cream cheese to a bowl. Mix until fluffy.
