Weekend wardrobe: Essentials for fall
Happy Saturday Everyone! Well .. my Friday Fashion seems to be turning into a weekend wardrobe post;) This week has been busy getting caught up after our trip to NY and yesterday was spent shooting wardrobe pics that will be coming up this week so stay tuned! Today I pulled together a few ideas to get you started thinking about those cool, crisp fall days ahead. It’s raining here in Seattle and the dry leaves are beginning to fall from the trees. It seems like we just hit a switch and now it’s Fall:) How are you? Any fun plans for the weekend? Today we are driving a distance to visit a beautiful apple farm and I can’t wait to come home and bake an apple pie!!
Now onto fashion! A few basics are essential and these pieces will be on repeat all season.
First, a good hoodie (or this one!) for snuggling up on those cool fall days. Here in Seattle we do lots of layering and a basic zip up hoodie is a perfect for those misty, sleepless in Seattle kinda days. Next is a trench .. a timeless piece that can be worn season after season. This coat is a favorite of mine! It’s a blend of wool and cashmere with a classic silhouette and there is an adjustable belt that adds definition to the long, slightly loose fit. Another great piece is a basic wool coat and ankle boots (or these).
A large tote or shoulder bag made of soft leather. There is something about buttery leather in the fall and winter … This camel tote has a spacious fuchsia interior with enough room to store a tablet, makeup kit and spare pair of flats. I tend to get warm with heavy cashmere. This turtleneck is a blend and nice weight for layering. You can also check here for additional options and pricing. A velvet blazer is supposed to be one of this seasons most coveting pieces. I am also eyeing this one from Theory. The cut is very flattering and you can wear it with denim or a dress skirt. If you are looking for a budget friendly piece, go with J.Crew;)
A party dress , something sweet and a little whimsical .. and not too expensive. Tulle and embellished gauze make this ballet inspired dress a keeper and one that you are sure to sparkle in .. and of course you’d need a pretty sandal (love these for less) and drop earrings to complete your look!
A wide leather belt by Stella McCartney. I love the gold ring and smooth faux leather! Belts are versatile and can be worn over sweaters and dresses to compliment your fall outfit. Last, don’t forget to ad a linen top to your shopping list. Those extra layers are comfortable and functional.
