wrapping up the summer: transitional pieces
Where did this month go? I don’t know about you but for me, this summer has been a bit of a blur. So much happened and I can’t believe we are already talking about fall. Our summer was a warm one and it’s time for some of that Seattle rain. I’m ready for cooler evenings and all the fun activities that fall brings!
As we wrap up summer, I’ll be cleaning out my closet. Those investment pieces will stay and then I’ll bring in a few new favorites!
The universally flattering Wrap dress is a wardrobe staple. The varied lengths and sleeve styles allow for easy dressing as we transition into fall.
Pullovers and cardigans are basic layering pieces that I always have in my closet. Wear a cute camisole or button up top underneath!
Distressed denim paired with a silk blouse or sweater is one of my favorite looks! My recent favorite is the high rise from Madewell. These are the first high rise jeans I’ve purchased that I absolutely love!
Button up tops: I like the plaids for a casual, soft, and relaxed fit. Silk blouses are wardrobe staple too and one of my favorite go-to pieces for the office.
Booties! There are so many available and at every price range. Rag & Bone is hands-down my favorite. The Wesley style is the most comfortable;) If you are looking for a more casual, less expensive boot, I just bought these comfy, Western-inspired booties. They are darling with a dress or denim!

Hi Leslie,
I’ve missed your site, which is why I’ve subscribed to your site using my gmail account. I was happy to hear, through Instagram, that you had a wonderful event this past summer (your daughter’s wedding). I am ready for autumn, as summer is my least favorite of the 4 seasons.
Great post, as always. Now I won’t miss them. P.S. I’m no longer posting so my name is Karen B., not Garden, Home and Party. :-)
xo,
Karen
Yay! I’m so glad you are subscribed Karen. It’s so easy to lose contact with people, especially with the new social media algorithms. I’m with you regarding summer. It’s been a warm one here and everything needs to be cleaned up with some rain and fresh air! We’ve got some fun changes coming up on the blog so I hope you keep in touch and give me feedback:) xoL
I can never seem to find a pair of short boots that will work for me. I am going to check out your choices!!
I wear booties MOST of the time, particularly during the winter months. If you follow my Instagram;) you’ll notice I’m wearing the perforated booties shown here with a white dress ~ an easy and comfortable look! Enjoy the weekend Cindy and I hope you have something fun planned! xoL
