Today I’m How to Create a Cozy Fall Bedroom inspired by warm woods, crisp linens, soft quilts, and cozy throws! Do you remember our Coastal bedroom post last summer? If you’ve been following my Instagram you know I’m working on changing things up a bit to create a more cozy, moody vibe for the cold winter months ahead.
This post is in collaboration with Pottery Barn. All content and opinions are my own. I always share only brands we know and love to support. Thank you following along!
How to Create a Cozy Fall Bedroom
The details
So let’s talk about 100% European linen. If you’ve never slept on linen sheets, they are the absolute best way to end the day. Pottery Barn’s rich, twill fabric is prewashed so it’s super soft and I love the way it effortlessly drapes across the bed in my favorite laid-back kinda way. Linen is supple, strong and gets softer with each washing. We like the added warmth and weight of a quilt, fluffy duvet, and cozy throw especially during the cold, dark fall and winter months.
We added the Willow/Linen Duvet Cover and Shams in Flax, Cotton Twill Quilt, and love the contrast to the rustic reclaimed wood platform bed and night stands. If you like neutrals as much as I do but have concerns about your home feeling too sterile or cold add wood! Pottery Barn’s fair trade reclaimed wood platform bed and night stands will stand the test of time and are also sustainably sourced. Our fabric headboard seemed to pick up dirt and grim, whereas the wood feels much cleaner and we like the wood mixed with the neutral linens, cozy duvet, and warm fur throw. We added a Moroccan rug because stepping out of bed onto something plush feels so good!
As temperatures begin to drop and the days grow shorter, there is no better time to embrace hygge, the Danish philosophy of cozy living. Add a furry throw to the end of your bed or toss over your favorite chair to encourage cozy moments and quiet time. In contrast to harsh overhead lighting try using sconces and lamps. We love the warm light from our ceramic lamps and we always keep the candles burning. I like to keep my night table simple with a candle, hand lotion, and a small vase with flowers or foliage.
This antique wooden bench made from weathered vintage wood was purchased last year and I still love it so much. I added inexpensive art work and mirror to the space as well. It’s all very simple, just the way we like it.
We aren’t overly fussy when it comes to styling in fact I prefer a more natural or lived in look that feels approachable. Nothing in our home is off limits or untouchable. Linen and wood works well for us as it’s durable and feels cozy and warm. I want our home to feel inviting and I love it when guests say they slept in. To me that means they were comfortable and I love that they will feel rested and relaxed after visiting our home.
I like the muted colors and worn markings on this printed pillow. It reminds me of a vintage or antique rug that tells a story of times past.
