This is world’s easiest recipe and is so delicious. Serve with fresh fruit or as is for a delicious Greek-style appetizer.
If you haven’t worked much with Phyllo Dough here are a couple tips:
- Thaw out completely prior to using.
- Lay a damp towel over the dough so it doesn’t get dry when you are working with it.
- Don’t worry if the dough separates a little. Just keep going and that section will get covered up.
Here’s what you’ll need:
- an 8 ounce block of Greek Feta
- fresh thyme
- honey
- butter
- olive oil
- egg
- phyllo dough
Phyllo Dough Feta with Thyme and Honey
A quick and delicious appetizer that can be served year-round.
Ingredients
- 8 ounce block of Greek Feta
- 4 pieces of phyllo dough
- 1/3 cup honey
- fresh thyme for garnish
- salt and red pepper to taste
- 1 egg
- 1 TB butter
- 2 tsp olive oil
Instructions
Preheat oven to 359 degrees F.
Melt and cool butter. Add olive oil plus one egg, whisk and set aside.
Slice feta in half and in half again so you have 4 pieces.
On two pieces of phyllo dough, brush with egg and oil mixture covering about 75% of your dough.
Place 2 pieces of feta towards to end of the phyllo dough. Fold end up to cover the dough.
Brush with oil.
Fold sides inward, brush will oil.
Roll the feta wrapped in dough forward, until you have made a rectangle.
Repeat the process for the other 2 pieces of cheese.
Brush with oil and bake for 20 minutes.
Remove golden feta and plate.
Pour honey over the top and add Thyme, salt and red pepper.
Serve immediately.
