String Cheese Broomstick Appetizer

String cheese Broomsticks

I decided to make string cheese broomsticks for our Fall party and they were such a hit I wanted to share them with you. This appetizer can be served throughout the month of October and even the first part of November prior to getting into the more decadent holiday appetizers.

Kids will enjoy these as well as adults! The salty pretzel and cheese combination is a winning one.

Tips for success

As the cheese warms to room temperature it gets softer and is more difficult to work with. Begin with cheese that’s cold!

Serve right away and don’t store in the refrigerator. Once you make your broomsticks, them should be gobbled up over the next couple of hours. If you refrigerate them the pretzel will loose it’s crunch.

Instructions: How to assemble string cheese broomsticks

  • Cut string cheese in half.
  • Gently press pretzel into one end.
  • Use kitchen scissors to cut the end of the string cheese forming the “broom”.
  • Tie a peice of chive at the top.
  • Stand up the broom on your serving platter and serve.
