Four DIY simple Fall centerpiece ideas
When I started to think about this post I wanted the table decor to be just a subtle nod to autumn, leaving plenty of room for food and family. Secondly I wanted to share ideas that were budget friendly and quick to assemble so a busy Mom could pull a Fall look together easily.
Number 1: Filling a vase with flowers.
Adding flowers and greenery to a vase is easy and can be budget friendly. This vase is filled with dried Indian rice grass, white roses, mixed filler from the grocery store, and a few of my dried hydrangea. So simple and was under $10 to make. The ceramic pot is an investment piece that looks beautiful displayed on a shelf or filled with flowers or wooden utensils. Drying hydrangea is so simple and the flowers last for months. Start with a few large green filler pieces, add a few statement flowers, and then smaller flowers. I like the way the roses peak out through the hydrangea.
Number 2: No flowers, just reeds, wheat, and grasses.
I just love this idea. Various grasses and bunny tails can be foraged from your yard, local hiking spot or purchased on-line, here.
Nothing feels like Fall more than the golden color of wheat and rich color of reeds. For this table setting I added wheat wrapped in twine to each place setting. This is so simple and easy to do for an impromptu dinner with friends or Thanksgiving Day table. Warm woods are always lovely in a home.. especially for fall. So wood is still visible, I typically use a frayed ivory runner (20% off with lemongrovelane20), fouta, or turkish towel instead of a traditional table cloth on our farm house table . Ceramic candle holders are my favorite and I use them year round. For this setting I added black beeswax taper candles. They are clean burning and don’t drip.
Our kitchen and great room area is small and I use every inch when we entertain. Sometimes the food gets put on the marble island but most of the time we eat family style so I can’t have a lot of decor on the table. Sometimes I set the decor up and take away some of it prior to setting out the food. Here I’ve created a very simple place setting with a linen napkin folded on a ceramic plate and a few sprigs of wheat tied together with a piece of twine.
Number 3: Wood bowl or container filled with pumpkins, wheat, and fall pods.
For this look you’ll need a container that will hold a few pumpkins and a bouquet of wheat and fall pods. You can purchase some of these items at Trader Joes or purchase on-line. Try using an oval wood dough bowl like this one or something vintage. I have an old coca-cola crate that I pull out every Fall. It’s just the right size for the table looks cute filled with Fall foliage, pumpkins, or fruit.
Number 4: Apple and leaf or eucalyptus runner
For this look leave your table as is or add a neutral runner or cheese cloth. Next add your greenery, fruit, and candles. I’m showing this look using eucalyptus and dried leaves foraged from our yard. I love this natural, organic look for Autumn. These apples were picked from an apple farm and smell so good.
