If there’s one thing you’ll almost always find in my pantry, it’s a jar of homemade granola. I love having it ready for busy mornings afternoon snacks, or (my favorite) sprinkled over my Greek yogurt along with some fresh fruit.
This maple version lightly sweetened, perfectly crisp, and packed with protein from oats, hemp hearts, quinoa and nuts.
Unlike store-bought versions, this High Protein Maple Granola is made with simple pantry ingredients and naturally sweetened with pure maple syrup. It’s easy to make and so delicious that I find myself always reaching for a handful.
Variations
Once you have this base recipe down, you can change the flavors depending on the season or whatever you have in your pantry.
- Honey: Swap the maple syrup for an equal amount of honey for a slightly richer floral sweetness.
- Nuts: Use whatever you have! In this recipe I’m using a mix of pine nuts and pecans. Try walnuts, pumpkin seeds, etc..
- Spices: Add Allspice during around the holidays and pumpkin pie spice during the month of October.
- Chocolate: During those cold winter months, try adding chocolate chunks for a little treat.
- Dried fruit: Add cranberries in the winter, cherries in the summer! Prunes are also delicious year-round.
- Coconut: Add unsweetened coconut flakes during the last few of minutes of baking so they toast without burning.
