Why we always make homemade taco seasoning?

If you read the ingredients of store bought seasoning packets, they are loaded with salt and other ingredients you might choose to avoid. Making your own seasoning allows you to adjust not only sodium, but other flavors as well. The result is a fresh and flavorful custom blend!

How long will my homemade taco seasoning last?

Your seasoning will last about 6 months if stored in an airtight container.

How to make my seasoning

It’s super simple. Just measure according to the recipe below and mix.

How to use in cooking

Experiment with the amount of seasoning you prefer. Start with about two tablespoons of seasoning plus about a quarter cup of water. Mix until dissolved and then simmer for about 5 minutes. I usually turn of the flame and cover the taco meat, allowing the seasonings to settle into the meat. When we make tacos I always use ground beef rather than turkey or chicken. It just has a better flavor.

Combine all ingredients in a small bowl. Whisk and then pour in to an airproof container. Store for up to 6 months.
