Why we like this smoothie
This smoothie is packed with nutrient dense foods. When I drink my morning glow smoothie I check off a serving of fruit, vegetable, protein, fiber, and healthy fats. Following the smoothie I make a bowl of oatmeal, cream of buckwheat, or toast with almond butter or ghee.
What are the best sources of protein
Here is a list of terrific protein sources:

How much protein do I need?As a general rule women need between 60 to 80 grams daily. Use this protein calculator to figure out your daily protein requirement. A three ounce serving (palm size) provides roughly 24 ounces of protein. To meet your daily protein requirement consider having a serving of protein or equivalent (protein powder) with each meal. For snacks, reach for a small hand full of nuts, cottage cheese, plain yogurt with fruit, or a hard boiled egg. Going Vegan means that you will be getting most of your protein from legumes, beans, grains. These are not ‘complete’ proteins as they don’t contain the essential amino acids found in meat, chicken, eggs, and fish. Grains and beans also contain carbohydrate (complex sugars) that can potentially bring up blood sugar (or insulin) levels.
