There are nights when the holiday guests walk through the door a little earlier than expected.. or you suddenly realize you need something to nibble on before dinner. This is the moment when I reach for one of my favorite host style tricks: warm Parmesan herb potato chips.
They take just a few minutes and look so pretty piled high on a silver platter along with fresh herbs and snow (Parmesan) on top. This is the kind of recipe that feels effortless and cozy, but still special enough for the holidays.
Because it’s the holiday season, I displayed the chips on my silver platter lined with parchment paper. I added fresh herbs and for extra greenery.
Warm Parmesan Herb Potato Chips are warm, nostalgic, feel elevated, and always disappear immediately.
Why this works
Warming store-bought chips for just a few minutes does something magical – the chips get flagrant, the herbs release their oils, and the Parmesan melts over ever so slightly. It turns an everyday snack into a charming holiday appetizer with almost no work at all.
Tips and variations
Rosemary and thyme both work beautifully.
Add a light sprinkle of garlic powder if you want something more savory.
Serve with a bowl of lemon Aioli or French onion dip for dipping.
For a party, warm two pans a once and refill the platter as needed.
Why you’ll love this appetizer
- Fast to make
- Crowd-pleasing
- Looks intentional
- Perfect last-minute idea
- Cozy and nostalgic
How to serve them
My favorite way: a rectangular silver platter. This really gives something ordinary an elevated look. The parchment paper softens the silver and adding a small sprig of herbs looks so easy and effortless. If you don’t have a platter that works, you can also use a wooden bowl.
