Sounds simple enough right? Well, it’s not always that easy. How many times have you boiled your eggs and struggled removing the shells and your egg ends up in pieces, no irritating and wasteful.
Here a few tips to get it right
- Use eggs that are a few days old.
- Cover with cool water and then bring to a boil.
- Allow to cool slowly.
- Rinse in cool water while peeling.
How to make the perfect hard boiled egg:
- Start with eggs that aren’t too fresh – maybe a few days old at least.
- Use a boiling boil that will allow you eggs to sit on the bottom. You don’t want to pile up the eggs in your pot.
- Start will cool water. Cover the eggs with about an inch of water.
- Bring to a boil (medium/high heat)
- Allow to bowl for a couple of minutes and then turn off the heat.
- Allow the eggs to sit in the hot water for 12-15 minutes.*
- Remove the eggs and allow to cool.
- Fill a large boil with ice water. Add the eggs and allow to sit for about 10 minutes.
- Eggs should be ready to peel!
*For darker yolks allow eggs to sit in hot water for less time (maybe 11-12 minutes). A longer ‘sit time’ will result in a more pale yolk.
