Since moving to the country I need to carefully plan my grocery shopping trips to minimize my driving. My favorite store is about 40 minutes away, not too far but still enough of a distance that I try to go there just once a week. The store is mostly food but they do have a small flower area and occasionally they bring in fresh branches and locally fresh cut flowers. The other day when I was there I was excited to finally see some spring blooms! I gathered a few sprigs of greenery and a small bouquet of flowers for my basket.

I returned home, put my groceries away and got to work on the flowers. I filled a small vase with water and placed it on the bottom of the wicker basket and added the flowers. So simple and .. instant joy and happiness! Feeling inspired, I did a little porch clean up and removed empty planters.

It took just a few minutes to spruce up the front porch area, and what a difference! Sometimes I feel that we often take care of everyone and everything else, putting out needs last. Take the time you need to make you feel happy and joyful.

Fresh flowers are always my favorite but there are times when it’s just too expensive to purchase fresh flowers or it’s not practical. There are a number of on-line places to purchase faux flowers. Afloral , ETSY, and Bloomist are my go-to sources. All three sell a large varieties of seasonal dried florals, faux branches, vessels, and flowers.

Say hello to spring and treat yourself to flowers!

Hanging wicker baskets can be used seasonally in the home or on your front door. Try using dried daisies, faux branches and blooms, or live flowers that are in season.

Long stem willows Freshly cut willow stems are beautiful in baskets or vases. I like to display them through the month of April.

When you are choosing which flowers to display on your front door, think seasonally. I use baby’s breath and dried daisies. In the summer, sunflowers would be fun! Head over to this blog post for more ideas on how to incorporate natural elements in your home.

  1. I have a hanging basket on my front door. Right now it is empty, haha! We are in that messy season, still getting snow and then it melts and gets dirty. Your flowers in the basket look so fresh and pretty! In May I will be able to do that here!

    1. That will look so pretty Molly! I sent a picture/video of the wall above my fireplace. Did you see it? I trying to decide if I should create a gallery wall or not..
