Chocolate Dipped Oranges
Candies oranges dipped in chocolate
Ingredients
- 3 oranges (any variety)
- 1 chocolate bar (use good chocolate - about 4 ounces)
- Fleur de Sel for sprinkling
- 2 1/2 cups sugar + 2 1/2 cups water
Instructions
Wash and slice (about 1/4 inch thick) oranges.
Boil 2 cups water in a medium pan.
Add orange and boil for about 2 minutes.
Remove from water and set on drying rack.
Add the sugar and water back into the pan. Bring to a boil and add the orange slices. Boil until the mixture reduces and begins to foam about 45 to 50 minutes turning the oranges frequently.
Remove oranges and set on drying rack. Refrigerate or allow to cool.
When you can handle them, dip into melted chocolate.
To melt the chocolate, chop chocolate into small pieces. Place in microwaveable bowl. Microwave for about 1.5 minutes, stopping to stir every 30 seconds. Remove from the microwave PRIOR completely melted. Finish stirring after you've removed from microwave.
Dip oranges in the chocolate and place on parchment paper until dry. Sprinkle with your favorite salt!
Notes
Keep oranges slices in an airtight jar or container lined with parchment paper. These delicious treats will last 6-8 weeks in a cool, dry place.
