Greetings friends and welcome to our 2021 Christmas home tour! This time every year when I welcome you in for a virtual tour of our home for the holidays. Enjoy the tour and make sure to check out my friend’s homes at the end of this post
Let’s begin in the kitchen with this little tree! I found it at our local nursery and thought it would be perfect for the kitchen island. Rather than weighing it down with heavy bulbs I added homemade ornaments. See how I made these adorable bead ornaments The bead ornaments are so simple to make and if you haven’t made a citrus garland it’s so much fun! Head over to this blog post for a full tutorial.
This year I wanted to focus on DIY, simple, fresh decor with lots of greenery in and around our home. For the front porch I used burlap to wrap poinsettias and added a soft, velvet ribbon. To create the natural planters I added a variety of greens from our local nursery. To see the exact greens I used, head over to this blog post.
In the kitchen I added bottle brush trees to our floating shelves, a framed holiday picture, and a vase filled with fresh flowers and pine to our kitchen.
For my mantle I used live garland. If you don’t want to deal with pine needles falling and replacing your garland midway through the holiday season, I suggest using faux. This year I simplified my holiday decor. Wood always warms things up so I purchased inexpensive candle holders from World Market and added a two flameless pillar candles. If I want extra light I add my vintage glass candle holders that I found on Etsy. The tapers are a mix. Some are from World Market and others I purchased from Camilia Home. There are lots of colors to choose from so check the site out if you need tapers. The stocking hangers are from a few years back and then I added diamond knit stockings and used wire to add a swag to each side of the mantle. In front of the fireplace I have a faux sheepskin rug and a basket nearby with a warm alpaca throw from Jenni Kayne.
How can I make my house feel more festive for Christmas?
- Simmer oranges and spices on the stove! DIY Gift ideas: stove top potpourri
- Add a small pine bouquet to a vase and place it on your kitchen counter or in your bedroom.
- Lite you favorite scented candle.
- Add fairy lights!
- Make your favorite cocktail
- Add greenery to your front door
- Indulge your sweet tooth :)
Simple bedroom decor for the holidays: I added a wreath and a bouquet of flowers, that’s it!
