setting the table with old and new
I’ve always enjoyed mixing antiques, thrifted or vintage finds with newer pieces, especially around the holidays. Setting the table with old and new, my gramma’s china, and heirloom pieces creates the perfect holiday feel. I’m also totally obsessed with the mix and match look, frayed or patterned napkins that don’t always match, relaxed linens (yes!) .. totally unexpected but works!
Elsie Green is a good resource for vintage floral dishes, unique ceramic and pottery pieces and glassware. Jenni Kayne also carries beautiful home decor items and you can receive 20% off with my code lemongrovelane20 at checkout. I purchased the frayed linens from Anthropologie last year and it doesn’t look like they are carrying the exact ones currently. Jenni Kayne carries frayed linen napkins and I found these napkins for less.
For our flatware I brought out our rustic antler handle forks and knives. I’ve had these for years so I don’t have a source however there are lots of options on Etsy.
I recently purchased tapers from Camilia Home and they are beautiful and weren’t too pricey. There are lots of color options too! The candle holders are also vintage and from Etsy.
Fresh flowers are a must. Check your local market for discounted flowers and check places like Trader Joes for pricing. Find out when your market receives their flower delivery and plan on arriving early for the best chance of getting what you want.
